Soundwalk and billboard
Collaboration with Hannah Beard; support from Leeds Civic Trust and the University of Leeds
I worked with landscape architect Hannah Beard to create a billboard and sound walk that imagine an alternate future for the east-side of Leeds city centre; one that centres people rather than road traffic, and is responsive to the climate crisis. My sound walk invites you to listen to spaces of the Eastside, both as they are and as they might otherwise be. It also weaves together the voices of people in the local area. We launched it with an en masse listening, via a mobile silent disco setup. The invited guests were local architects, developers and members of the council. The works were presented as a provocation for action, and have influenced the development of a supplementary planning document, due to be presented to Leeds City Council.
